How do I pick a stylist at your salon?

At Stacey James, every stylist has been chosen because of their artistic ability, skill, and dedication to their profession. All the stylists go through the same training and quality control process so you can be assured that the results will be the same regardless of who you go to.

If I make an appointment with a stylist will they be doing my hair, or will an assistant do my hair?

At Stacey James, our stylists do all the critical work themselves. However, sometimes stylists get behind and might find it necessary to have an assistant finish out your style.  Rest assure that everyone that touches your hair is fully licensed, and has gone through extensive advanced training to meet the high level you expect at Stacey James.

What if I love Stacey James Salons, but I want to change to a different stylist?

Don’t worry about hurting anyone’s feelings.  We work as a team, and we all want you to find the stylist that you feel most comfortable with.

I’m interested in hair extensions. What kind do you use?

We specialize in only the best 100% Human Hair Extensions.  Keratin is the protein that your hair is made up of. The bond we use is made of the same thing, so you can be sure that the bond will be compatible with your own hair giving you damage free results.

How much do Hair Extensions cost?

We need to know a number of things to determine the cost of your extension service.  How long is your natural hair?  What is your hair texture?  How thick/thin is your natural hair?  Are you looking to add length or just thickness?   On average You can expect to spend anywhere from $500-$1200   We suggest that you come in for a free consultation to learn about what your options are and the corresponding price.

Will hair extensions damage my hair?

Even great hair extensions can damage your hair if they are applied or removed by an inexperienced stylist.  Other salons allow their stylists to start applying extensions to clients once they complete a 3 day certification.  At Stacey James, our stylists must complete a 6 month apprentice  program before they are allowed to apply extensions to a client.  Extensions can also damage your hair if it is overprocessed and if you do not follow the recommended home care.  Your  Stacey James stylist will work with you to make sure that your hair is healthy before they apply the extensions and we will send you home with everything you will need to take care of your extensions at home.

How do you set your service prices?

We  found the prices at other salons to be confusing.  We didn’t understand why the menu would say “starts at” a certain price but then the actual price was very different.   In some salons, each stylist charges a different price.  The menu would list the lowest cost stylist as the starting price, but you would often want to work with a different stylist who charged a different price.  Some salons would charge prices based on different “Titles” they gave their stylists (“top colorist,” “master colorists”) which was also confusing. We base our prices on very straightforward variables: the cost of the materials used and the time it takes for our extensively trained Stacey James stylist to do the service.

Why is a blow dry a separate cost when I get a color service?

Many salons have the assistant perform the blow dry after a color service.  At Stacey James, a stylist performs the blow dry and adds final touches that will make you date-ready, shopping ready or just make-my-friends-jealous-ready.  We also give our clients the option not to pay for a full blow dry if they are just getting a color service and running off to the gym.  If a client opts not to get a full blow dry, our stylists can do a complimentary “rough blow dry” which dries the hair and allows you to see your finished color.

Does it really make a difference what kind of products I use on my hair?

While grocery store shampoos might cost less per bottle, they might cost you more in the long run. They are highly alkaline and strip hair of all its natural oils. This causes your hair and scalp to dry out. Your scalp notices the dryness and starts to produce more oil, which makes you think your hair is dirty or greasy. So, you wash your hair more, and it dries out more. This is a vicious cycle that you don’t want to get caught in! The result is unmanageable dry, frizzy ends with an oily scalp. Our shampoos have a much lower PH level(the same as your own hair) They do not strip your hair of the essential oils that your hair needs to be healthy and shiny.

Why is it necessary to carry so many retail product lines?

We have searched the world to bring you the “best” products available.  Different companies specialize in different hair types and problems. We have chosen products to help with whatever problem you may have, or maintain your already healthy hair. Your stylist has had extensive training in all of the products we sell and can confidently recommend the right products for you.

What retail products do you carry?

Every hair product or styling tool we carry is a “Stacey James Favorite” which means that at least 2 staff members love, recommend and use the product at home.  We constantly try out new products to see if they deserve to get the Stacey James stamp of approval.

How do you set your retail prices?

Great products result in great hair!  We want you to have the best looking and feeling hair on your block! We know products can be expensive.  At Stacey James, we want you to always get a great deal on retail.  So, If we get a great deal on products, we pass that savings on to you.
